Tow-Sports
After purchasing Top Shelf in Yalikavak, Turkey, Julianne and I brought our daughter and some of our friends to Turkey to cruise the beautiful southern coast. The coast, the anchorages, the folks ashore were fantastic, but I would say that the most fun we had during the cruise involved the Jetboat.
The Seadoo 155 Speedster is a 215 HP versatile tender. It seats 4, cruises at over 40 mph, allows you to explore the tidal rivers around Calibogue Sound, and provides an incredible Tow Sports platform.

My Youth
As a teenager, most of my summers involved being on the water at Peter’s Pond in Cape Cod. We fished at night, but the day’s activities involved water skiing. We all competed on the slalom course that we created, but we also invented other water skiing games like “the last man standing.” Three water skiers would try to knock the others off their skis while being towed. The person in the middle always got the worst of it! Other games involved different dismounts from the skis when coming ashore. We all were able to do a flip from the ski and land it in waist-deep water. Those times are great memories from my youth.
Tow-Sports Anyone?
As I watch the charter business develop here in Hilton Head, I can’t help but notice that only a few charters are taking advantage of the water sports activities associated with the Jetboat. Traditional water skiing and tubing on the Obrien Booker 2 tube are usually the most popular, but we just invested in a 2021 ZUP Board. A ZUP board is relatively new to tow-sports. Briefly, the Zup board can be a one-person tube but riders can kneel on it and cut sharply across the wakes, or the adventurous riders can stand up from the kneeling position to carve perfect turns across the wakes.
I wrote this blog to encourage our charter guests to use the Jetboat to experience these tow-sport water toys that I only wish we had in my youth.
Try out our tow-sports and let our mate Brian video your experience. If you approve, we will post the video on our social media pages.
We look forward to seeing you aboard Top Shelf. Please submit a comment below…
